Finding the Gold Dust in Dark Times

Based on my life experience, often it’s the dark times in our lives that have the ways of teaching us the most.

What if its these times of darkness and despair in our lives that send us down to the depths are in fact to find the gold dust that sets us up for the next chapter or seasons of our life we are about to enter??!

The Universe has it’s own way of taking us to these darker corners of ourselves to show us things we havnt quite learnt or understood yet.

It’s in these times we must not quit or give up but look around for the gold dust that will appear and form the pathway into the next season or chapter of your life.

The force of life and the universe is always with us, but in these darker times we can feel trapped, limited and forget that in fact we have been sent to these depths for a reason.

It’s often lessons or parts of ourselves that we keep looking away from, projecting onto others or the world around us that causes us the most suffering and cause us to stay stuck in these places.

Someone once told me, ‘the only way out is in’

Sitting with ourselves, taking full and radical responsibility for all parts of self, but this is easier said than done.

In today’s world it isn’t something many people do as there are many solutions offered, scapegoats or ways out of this often challenging pathway.

It’s easy to point fingers, to blame, to say there’s a man in the sky who’s going to save me, to project onto others things we don’t want to face but to actually turn the mirrors around and say ‘what is this all trying to teach me’ isn’t so easy!

Once we start asking questions of ourselves and have the courage to turn the mirrors around is from experience when the gold dust will start to appear and the specs of light at the end of the tunnel will start to appear.

Sitting with yourself, giving yourself the time and space to retreat and make this enquiry.

To be still and diving into your inside world can be a terrifying idea for many and most people avoid it at all costs, but this is where the treasure lies.

These times often come after major events in our lives such as heartbreak, loss, grief or critical T-junctions in our life where your heart and spirit is screaming out for change.

When I reflect on several of these times in my life they were painful, dark, bumpy and simply harrowing periods where you don’t fully understand much, and many things fall away.

Some also refer to these times as a ‘dark night of the soul’.

One of my favorite quotes of Carl Jung is “knowing your own darkness is the best method of dealing with the darkness of other people”

I recall this time in my life after a rough breakup and many things fallen away, I had been brought to my knees, and it was the switching of the seasons where the colours of the trees were changing, the leaves dropping to the ground and this feeling inside how my inside world was going through the same process.

How nature is such a powerful teacher and goes through this process every season, every year changing colours, letting go and dropping the leaves to the ground, yet as humans we often hang onto stuff, old stuff, things that aren’t ours, and forget to change our colours and let go.

So next time you come to one of these times or junctions in your life remember the words ‘Gold Dust’ sit with yourself, ask questions and be patience knowing that your life is getting a re direction and that soon enough gold dust will start to appear and lead you into your next version of self, season or chapter of your life.
